Rare functional antique pocket watch in 750 (18 kt) gold from 1839.
On the anchor engraving you can see that the watch was manufactured in Birmingham. Diameter 43 mm, total weight 70.13 g, English pointed anchor watch, key lift, balance on top, balance piston engraved, steel chaton with diamond as cover stone, guilloche gold dial with applied Roman gold numerals, engraved in the centre, with decorations on the edge, genuine gold hands, "Fleurs des Lys" shape, decorated glass edge and cap edge, guilloche bowl, chiselled hoop and pedant.
The watch is an inheritance piece and was auctioned in 1985 by Henry's. A very well preserved masterpiece of the art of watchmaking of that period!
